November 2007, Yashachneya River, Sakha Republic, Siberia. During our visit Nikolai Shalugin (left) mostly caught white fish, some grayling, and two lingcods, one of which he sliced in extremely thin and long strips that we ate raw, while sharing stories in his small cabin at midnight.
